Genesis 41:14: When God Says "Change"

All Began with a Dream

In 2007, the word of God came to me in my sleep.

I heard it clearly:“Genesis 41:14.”

When I woke up, I opened my Bible to that verse. It describes the moment Joseph was brought out of prison to appear before Pharaoh—and before doing so, he changed his clothes.

That word—change—hit me like a bolt of lightning.

I remember thinking, Lord, are You telling me something in my life needs to change?

Divine Confirmation

A few weeks later, I turned on my television. An error code flashed across the screen:4114.

I was stunned. The same numbers. The same verse.

I sat in awe, sensing something sacred. It felt like heaven was echoing the message:

“Embrace change. Prepare.”

That “coincidence” was no coincidence at all. It was confirmation. God was speaking—and He was serious.

The Story of Joseph Became My Mirror

From that moment on, I began to study Joseph’s story—not just as history, but as a spiritual roadmap.

I told my husband, “We need to prepare. Let’s stockpile food. I don’t know what’s coming, but I feel it—it has something to do with readiness and provision.”

I didn’t have a plan yet, but I had a prompting.

And I couldn’t shake it.

Pit, Prison, Palace—But God Was There

Years later, the Holy Spirit whispered another question to my heart:“Do you know how Joseph ended up in the pit?”

I dove even deeper into the story.

Joseph was hated by his brothers. Thrown into a pit. Sold into slavery. Falsely accused. Forgotten. Imprisoned. Alone.

And yet, Scripture says:

“But the Lord was with Joseph.”

Every injustice was met with divine elevation. Every trial led to greater trust in God. It was clear—only the favor of Godcould make that possible.

Joseph never gave up hope.

And neither would I.

The Ultimate Test: Forgiveness

The most powerful moment in Joseph’s story wasn’t when he rose to power.

It was when he forgave the brothers who betrayed him.

Forgiveness was the gateway to restoration. That truth changed me.

I realized that the change God was calling me to wasn’t just about food or preparation—it was about my heart. My posture. My ability to let go and love anyway.

A New Season of Purpose

In 2023—sixteen years after that initial dream—I retired from the Federal Government.

I answered the call to step fully into the work God had been preparing me for all along.

I founded Sustained Life, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to achieve lasting health and well-being through accessible, whole-person solutions.

I also became the Vice President of New Vision Community Outreach Association (NVCOA), where we’re advancing food justice, mental well-being, and financial resilience—through Christ-centered compassion.

What started as a verse in the night has become a vision for life.

Final Encouragement: Don’t Miss Your Genesis 41:14

Maybe you’re in a pit season.Maybe you feel forgotten, delayed, or stretched beyond your limits.

Let me encourage you:The delay is not a denial. The pit is not the end.

God may be calling you to change—not to punish you, but to prepare you.

Keep trusting. Keep walking. Keep forgiving.

Because when God says, “Genesis 41:14,”He’s not just giving you a verse. He’s inviting you into your purpose.

Let’s Reflect Together:

Have you ever experienced a moment when God spoke clearly through Scripture, dreams, or divine “coincidences”?How has the story of Joseph spoken to your life?
